More ski pics

Weekend in the Snow

We spent the weekend at Mt. Hood and had a great time. Jackson is riding the chairlift and skiing down the beginner hill. Sean got to ride the "magic carpet" and practiced doing turns. We skied 2 days and on Sunday played at the snow park and built a snow cave.

The Big 40

The boys don't normally run around in long underwear but we just got out of the car after sledding up at Mt. Hood. There doesn't seem to be any interest in putting on "real" clothes, so this will likely be the attire for the rest of the day. Please pardon our lack of formality with the b-day photo!

Okay, I'll try some more. The last pic was from Jackson's swim lesson.

Technical Difficulties

The video did not work, so I'm going to work on posting photos. I'll try to figure out video because have a great video of Jackson scoring a basket at his basketball game on Sunday.

Superbowl Sunday...now , who's playing again?

So, it's the big day..Superbowl Sunday...and until about 2 days ago, I wasn't even sure who was playing! Despite the fact that we aren't too vested in either team, Jim and I decided to have a small gathering , mostly as an excuse to get together with two other families from his office who have kids that are similar ages. All boys, too...hopefully the house will be standing after the whirlwind of boy energy has passed through!
Yesterday was my "Moms morning Out" ski adventure with my friend, Laura. I picked her up at 6;45am and we headed up to Mt. Hood Meadows to ski a half day. It was raining and snowing when we left. As the drive continued, it turned into snow, snow, snow and very slow going. The roads were actually okay, but the snow was falling at a pretty steady clip. The biggest issue were my wind shield wipers which kept getting clogged up with chunks of snow. Laura and I took turns reaching out of our windows and grabbing the wipers to try to break off the snow. It was somewhat successful...fortunately just at the moment we were both wondering why we weren't a day spa instead of trudging up the mountain, we arrived at the parking lot.
The snow was deep and fluffy...definitely a different kind of skiing, but still lots of fun, even with the snow that felt like ice pellets at the top of the chair lift. We skied a few hours and headed home...we were so busy gabbing that we didn't realize we were headed toward Hood River instead of back to Portland! The turn off sign for Portland was completely covered in a snow bank...urrrggggg! Fortunately we realized the mistake before we were too far along and turned around in the right direction.
The boys are both upstairs playing some sort of game with dinosaurs and blocks...I think they are pretending they each have their own dinosaur family. Yesterday, Jim took them to swim lessons while I was skiing and Jackson got to use flippers. I guess he was having so much fun, he just kept swimming back and forth in the pool. Sounds like he's get very close to earning his good swimmer badge. Sean has a cough right now..poor guy. He seems to be as perky as ever, he just has congestion and a raspy cough. Even though it's the middle of winter, both boys are running around the house in soccer shorts and t-shirts.
Time to do laundry, clean for guests and maybe take a peek at the Sunday paper!
